Following a risk of vengeance by the restored Sovereign Palpatine, Kylo Ren acquires a Sith wayfinder, driving him to the unknown planet Exegol. There, he discovers Palpatine, who uncovers that he made Snoke as a manikin to control the Principal Request and draw Kylo to the clouded side. Palpatine divulges the Last Request—a mystery task force of Star Destroyers—and advises Kylo to discover and execute Rey, who is proceeding with her Jedi preparing under Opposition pioneer Leia Organa. Finn and Poe Dameron convey intel from a government agent that Palpatine is on Exegol; Rey has gained from Luke Skywalker's notes that a Sith wayfinder can lead them there. Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewbacca, BB-8, and C-3PO withdraw in the Thousand years Hawk to Pasaana, where Luke's quest for Exegol finished.

On Pasaana, the gathering experiences Lando Calrissian, who directs them toward the wayfinder's last speculated area. Kylo realizes where Rey is through their Power bond and goes there with his warrior subordinates, the Knights of Ren. Rey and the others find the remaining parts of a Jedi tracker named Ochi, his boat, and a knife recorded with Sith content, which C-3PO's customizing denies him from deciphering. Detecting that Kylo is close by, Rey goes to defy him. The Main Request catches the Bird of prey, Chewbacca, and the knife; endeavoring to spare Chewbacca, Rey incidentally obliterates a First Request transport with Power lightning. Assuming that Chewbacca has been slaughtered, the gathering escapes on Ochi's boat.

Poe recommends heading out to Kijimi to have the Sith content separated from C-3PO's memory; the procedure uncovers directions to a wayfinder. Rey faculties that Chewbacca is alive, and the gathering mounts a salvage crucial. While Kylo scans for Rey, the gathering penetrates his Star Destroyer with the assistance of Zorii Rapture, an old associate of Poe's. Rey recoups the blade and has dreams of her folks being executed with it. In the interim, Kylo banters with a memory of his dad, Han Solo; he discards his lightsaber and recovers his way of life as Ben Solo. Palpatine has one of his superlaser-prepared Star Destroyers pulverize Kijimi.

Upon the gathering's arrival to the Obstruction base, R2-D2 gets a sign from Rey. The Obstruction follows Rey's directions to Exegol, where she defies Palpatine; he requests she murder him to move his soul into her. Lando brings fortifications from over the cosmic system to join the fight. Ben overwhelms the Knights of Ren and joins Rey, yet Palpatine channels the pair's capacity to revive himself. He assaults the Obstruction armada with Power lightning and weakens Ben. Debilitated, Rey hears the voices of past Jedi, who loan her their quality. Palpatine assaults her with his lightning, however Rey avoids it utilizing the Skywalker lightsabers, slaughtering him and herself. Ben utilizes the Power to restore her at the expense of his own life; Rey kisses Ben before he passes on. The Opposition annihilates Palpatine's order transport, leaving the fleet caught over Exegol. As individuals over the world ascent facing the Primary Request, the Opposition comes back to their base to celebrate.

After the festival, Rey visits Luke's surrendered youth home on Tatooine and covers the Skywalker lightsabers, having manufactured her own. A bystander asks her name; as the spirits of Luke and Leia watch, she answers, "Rey Skywalker."
